Having eating pasta for years, neither did I try before pasta that’s being cooked or wrapped in paper until today when I was at the bloggers pasta tasting session at Suntec City, held in conjunction with Nuffnang, by Pizza Hut.

Two new flavourings has been introduced by Pizza Hut and they are the Char-grilled Chicken Parchment (Parchment actually means paper la hor?) and Spicy Seafood Parchment. Pizza Hut is known for pizzas duh, but have you tried their pastas? Some of the bloggers I talked to this evening mentioned when they come to Pizza Hut, they only have pizzas.

 –
 –

Now I’m gonna be truthful here, I prefer the Spicy Seafood Parchment to the Char-grilled Chicken one. I’ll tell you why in a moment.

 –
 –

Pasta wrapped in paper, as seen above.

When the pasta is served to the first table, I kept wondering what is that you know. Don’t know what they wrapped inside only to find out ah, it’s the new pasta they’re offering in the menu.

 –

It’s the creamy type of pasta which either gets you sick of it or love it. Pizza Hut does the sickening part away with bacons inside the pasta filled with char-grilled chicken and garlic. It was creamy and good, but a little bit more bits of the bacon would be better to enhance the taste.

Next up we have the Spicy Seafood one.

I fail to agree that it is spicy simply because I can tahan the spicyness (and go to the loo the next day every 10 minutes). This is my own preference cuz’ there are other bloggers around me who think it’s too spicy. Anyway, I love the prawns in it, QQ and fresh. Also served with mussels and squids in the tomato-based sauce, it’s for those who love seafood but feel like eating pasta in Pizza Hut.

I must say it’s a very interesting concept of wrapping pasta in paper cuz I’ve never seen it before in Singapore. I’m also surprised by their press kit which came wrapped in that paper also. Very creative. For what I think, hot or ice tea would be matching the pasta they’re offering in the new menu. I proposed to the marketing team that they should add in more spicyness to the Spicy Seafood one though. More more!

The two new pasta offerings will be available island wide today, when Pizza Hut opens its door and will be priced at $11.90 for the Char-grilled Chicken edition and $12.90 for the Spicy Seafood Parchment. Press release after the break.

Knowing our local seafood for the unpredictable quality, JB actually serves better seafood and spending less of your money if you are willing to travel across the causeway to hunt for it. One of them would be this Tian Lai Seafood Restaurant, located at Gelang Patah, along Jalan Ulu Choh.

 –

It’s a family operated restaurant so don’t be surprised if the helpers sit down there to idle. They ARE the family members.

 –
 –
 –

The soya sauce in red and green chilli padi.

 –

And the drinks. Liang Teh, Kopi and Teh.

 –

And here comes the food. You know what? Their dishes are so flavoured that you would just want to eat on and on. The black peppered crabs are my favourite. It’s the kind of sauce that’s not so thin which you can’t really find in Singapore. Quite fresh and yummy. Enjoy the pics.

And all of those comes to only RM 101. Now would you go there for a try? Enjoy =)

I have to bring this up because the attitude of the service staffs in this particular restaurant is simply horrendous. I shall not name the restaurant but I can tell you it’s a restaurant located right in Jurong Point serving Peranakan food.

The restaurant don’t look too small but all I see is just 4 service staffs including the manager. Asked to order but I had to wait for 1-2 minutes before I could actually order. Just to mention there weren’t too many customer during the period I was dining.

Ordered One Kari Kapitan (Curry Chicken), One rice, one iced tea and one grass jelly and fruit cocktail and so did the food came. I looked at the size of the Kari Kapitan and rolled my eyes to Vivian across.

“Doesn’t it make sense that we ordered one rice but we are given a big serving of this?” Vivian and me murmured.

Yea, it simply makes no sense to them when I did not indicate what size I want, but if customer never say, you should give them the default, which is the small one right?!

Well, the price is the difference you see, $9.90 for small and $14.90 for big. Don’t presume both of us are eating when we only ordered one rice lah!

The big one…

and the small one…

I mean it’s the norm for them to serve the big version to a family but to two customers who only ordered one rice? What a joke. (You didn’t even give us an additional plate only when we asked for one)

I would like to say, smiling is the essential of service staffs when it comes to F&B. You bin chao chao serve us food, what’s the obstacle to just smile abit to the customers?

Next up, while we were eating, one of the service staff was serving food to the table a table away from us.

“PUMP!” there goes a bowl of laksa onto the table where the soup nearly flowed out and the customer looked at the service staff, stunned.

I GASPED, and the service staff just walked away. Well, Com’on lah, be gentle with the food can or not. Moreover, it’s soup based, how would you be able to account to the customer if the soup overflowed and dripped onto the customer’s clothes?

Finally, we finished our food. I would say it’s quite nice, Paid the $18.90 bill and shoo we went, and I would never ever wanna go back there to eat again. I recommend Chilli Padi instead.

Enough said, 謝謝,下次我不會再來了.
